Assessment Data: ACCESS & Academic Score Uploads
Import WIDA ACCESS files and academic assessment scores from any provider, and see where they appear.
Three uploaders, one tab
- Open Assessment Data from the left nav. A toggle at the top switches between "WIDA ACCESS / DRC scores", "Academic scores", and "Interim language".
- Use WIDA ACCESS / DRC for your annual score file. Use Academic scores for content and literacy measures: NWEA MAP, i-Ready, Star, Acadience, DIBELS 8th Edition, FastBridge, ISIP and others. Use Interim language for the in-year language measures your district already gives: WIDA MODEL, LAS Links, writing and speaking samples scored on a named rubric.
- Everything you import is listed underneath with its column, row and record counts, and can be re-downloaded later. The list only shows files imported on this page; scores added by roster sync or manual entry won't appear here even though they show on ACCESS Testing and student profiles.
- No export to start from? Under the uploader, download a template with the exact column names Melaa reads: the ACCESS scores template or the student roster template (on the WIDA ACCESS / DRC tab; the roster template adds or updates students without writing any scores), or the academic scores template (on the Academic scores tab). Each has a header row and one example row to replace with your own.
Uploading academic scores
- Leave Assessment set to "Detect from the file" unless an import comes out wrong. Melaa reads your file's own column headers to work out which assessment it is.
- Confirm the two statements above the drop box, then drag the CSV export onto it or click to browse. Export the standard score report from your assessment provider; there is no special format to prepare.
- Some exports put every measure in its own column rather than one row per score. Those import too, and each measure is charted on its own scale so a composite never shares an axis with a words-per-minute score.
- A few exports name the screening window (“Fall”) but never the year. Set School year before uploading one of those; it is ignored whenever the file dates its own rows.
- Students are matched on their ID first, then their state ID, then an exact first-and-last-name match. The result tells you how many scores saved, how many rows didn't match a student, and gives examples so you can spot an ID mismatch quickly.
- If detection picks the wrong assessment, choose it by name from the Assessment dropdown and upload the file again.
Re-uploading a file corrects existing scores rather than duplicating them: one score is kept per student, per assessment, per subject, per term.
Interim language measures
- Interim language holds the language assessments given between ACCESS administrations. Upload a file for WIDA MODEL Online or LAS Links (the vendor's roster or student export works as exported; pick the assessment first), or use Enter one result for a single student. MODEL Paper, MODEL for Kindergarten, and rubric-scored samples have no export, so they are entered per student; a rubric sample records the rubric's name and edition and its top score point.
- Every interim result is stored with the instrument and scale it came from and is shown that way on the student profile under Interim language measures, beside the ACCESS history, never on the same chart.
- Interim results are never compared with ACCESS levels (WIDA and state guidance say a MODEL level does not equate to an ACCESS level, and no other vendor publishes a WIDA concordance), never count toward exit criteria, growth projections, or the Progress buckets, and are never part of what the AI assistant sees. They are context for the people making decisions, not a prediction.
Re-uploading corrects rather than duplicates: one record is kept per student, per assessment, per instrument, per date.
An assessment we don't list
- Pick "Other" from the Assessment dropdown. Any file with a recognisable score column and a subject column will import.
- If a subject name is one we don't recognise, it is kept exactly as your file spells it rather than dropped, so nothing is silently lost.
- Tell us what you use and we'll add proper support for it - that only improves how well the columns are detected.
Where the scores show up
- On each student's profile, as an Academic growth chart under the ACCESS history and trajectory.
- In the teacher tool, in the same Scores-over-time view teachers already use.
- On the Overview dashboard, as median scores grouped by assessment and subject.
Each assessment gets its own chart. They are kept apart on purpose, because a MAP RIT and an i-Ready scale score measure on different ranges and sharing one axis would flatten both.
