Draft, edit, sign, and release language plans - and what signing changes for teachers and the AI.
Creating a plan
From a student's profile, open the plan card (Create plan / Open plan). One plan exists per student per school year. The editor opens on the current school year (it rolls over on July 1), and the year picker also offers next school year so you can start next year's plan early.
"Generate AI draft" opens a confirmation window with an optional box for specifics you want included; otherwise the AI drafts from the student's current and past ACCESS scores, their WIDA CAN DO Descriptors, and staff observations. Review and edit every section; it's a draft, not a decision.
"Import existing plan (AI)" takes last year's plan (or one from another system) as a PDF, Word document, or scan, plus optional instructions like "update the goals for this year" - the AI fills the fields by merging the upload with the student's current data, including the service model and weekly minutes when the document states them.
Fill the service model and weekly minutes, plus the seven sections (strengths, goals, services, accommodations, strategies for content teachers, progress monitoring, family engagement).
Save drafts as you go - drafts are visible to admins only.

Signing & what it unlocks
"Sign & release to teachers" locks the plan and requires goals and services to be filled.
Signed plans appear read-only to the student's teachers (a green chip on the teacher dashboard) and automatically join the AI assistant's context so suggestions follow the plan.
"Print / sign on paper" produces the signature-line version for physical records. Reopen for edits if something changes - reopening is tracked, and every signed version is kept: the plan page lists "Previous signed versions" with who signed each one and when it was reopened.
If someone else signs, edits, or reopens the same plan while you have it open, your save stops with a message to reload instead of overwriting their change.
